| we had brunch at home on saturday. it was difficult to gather everyone around, esp with two new babies in the group, but i'm glad we tried. we talked about weddings (another couple is engaged!) and babies and france and work. we had wine and cheese, and then champagne and strawberries and cream. it was nice to catch up with friends over food. we hadn't seen them in months!
and then french fry fell incredibly ill. so i had to cancel sunday brunch at st regis. which was a bummer, as i had been looking forward to the indulgence all week (WS says they serve you kir royal as you take your seat!!!), but oh well, shit happens. and the party went on without us.
so i stayed home and watched the street, which is a very sombre and depressing bbc tv series, but good. and decided to keep sunday mildly frivolous by painting my toe nails a bright bold red.
oh i bought a small bunch of flowers. just to make the house a little pretty.
and just like that, in the wise words of jarvis crocker, something changed.

| i had to be in malaysia for a meeting today. usually i would have moaned and groaned, and complain about how annoying and tiring day trips were, but this time, i had my trusty book with me and i was happy to have some time to read in the plane.
i finished the book in the evening, as the plane touched down in singapore. it ended so beautifully. i re-read the ending. it made me want to...
i imagined i was at yallingup beach in perth, digging my feet deep in the soft, white sand, with my arms wide open, roaring to the sea at the top of my lungs, "hellooooooooooooooooooo wooooooooooooooooooorld!!!"
yeah, the great gatsby kind of made me want to do that.
hah.

| Ah... such good times. I love a long weekend, especially a long Labour Day weekend, where one feels obliged to reward oneself for all that hard work.
So what did I get up to?
Well, shoe shopping naturally! (Well, I needed new shoes anyway.)
I almost can't wait to get back to work on Monday now - can wear new shoes! I swear, retail therapy works.

| tee hee hee. i am watching old episodes of sex and the city AGAIN!

it amazes me - everytime i watch it, i take away something new. this time round, i had another epiphany. i won't say what about because it relates to the bear and it's ancient old history and it was back when i was a girl and he was already an old man, but hey it was illuminating.
i love the weekends. the sky is always bluer, the days are stressfree, there are friends to meet and food to cook and so much daylight to go out and do stuff! i am so much happier outside of work.
i finally found a way to give my photos a pink tone. i've always loved how dreamy those faded pink pictures look. almost as if they're an extension of someone's mind, thoughts, dreams...
i will be busy all weekend with my photos. and ff and i are off to the movies and i have high tea at the hilton with the girls. but first, lunch with barbie and her french bean and EG and Caro at the chic vegetarian joint in town.
oh, am also going cable skiing for the first time tomorrow. but am more apprehensive than excited really. we'll see.

| I don't love the person, but man, I'm so in love with the performance. Adam Lambert. When he sings... it's a dream...
And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which I'm dying Are the best I've ever had I find it hard to tell you I find it hard to take When people run in circles It's a very, very Mad world
I feel so caged in. I’m not unhappy, on the contrary, I realize I have nothing more to ask for. I am so grateful and so contented. But I do so miss the flight.
I miss the fluttering of the heartbeat. Being inspired, feeling invincible.
Feeling free.
I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad. I find it hard to take. When people run in circles, it’s a very very… mad world.
